The Narcotics Anonymous message is “that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.” Our relations with the public enable us to share this message broadly so that those who might benefit from our program of recovery can find us. We perform public relations service to increase the awareness and credibility of the NA program. We share our message openly with the public at large, with prospective members, and with professionals. Maintaining an open, attractive attitude in these efforts helps us to create and improve relationships with those outside the fellowship. Establishing and maintaining a commitment to these relationships, can help us to further our primary purpose. The spiritual principles of our steps, traditions, and concepts guide us in pursuing our public relations aims and our efforts to enhance NA’s public image and reputation. These principles apply to our community and service efforts as well as to the personal behavior and attitude of individual NA members.
PR meets online the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30pm on Zoom
Many opportunities to serve have minimal or no clean-time requirements.
- PHONELINE – Members take 12-hour shifts covering our toll-free hotline, answering calls from suffering addicts or out-of-town members looking for meetings in KC.
- GROUPS & ORGANIZATIONS – Make presentations and explain NA to professional groups and conventions, so they understand that NA is a well-respected, proven option for their drug-addicted clients.
- WEBSITE – Help our Metro website (kansascityna.org) stay up-to-date with information that can benefit existing members and help potential members find a meeting in KC.
- DIRECTORIES – Help us maintain an accurate printable version of the Metro meeting schedule.
All NA Members welcome

The purpose of an H&I meeting is to carry the NA message of recovery to addicts who do not have full access to regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings. H&I meetings/presentations, except for those in longer term facilities, are intended to simply introduce those attending to some of the basics of the NA program.

It is the mission of the Kansas City Metropolitan Services Committee to provide a common set of shared services to its member areas of Narcotics Anonymous. We are directly responsible to the groups in each of these areas. Our mission is to ensure that we administer services as effectively as possible to allow these groups to carry the message to the addict who still suffers.
